Weedless Swimbait Hooks for Striped Bass will save you time and money when fish hide in the trees or brush!  If you are Striper Fishing North Texas Lakes like Tawakoni, Texoma, or Cooper you need a weedless swimbait hook to catch fish when they move into flooded timber and buck-brush!  If you’re Striper Fishing Lake Tawakoni you have lost swimbaits in the trees.  Big Striper, Hybrid Striper, and White Bass love the flooded timber and weedless lures are the answer!

Swimbait Hooks-Striped Bass Fishing-Cooper Lake Texas

Cooper Lake is in East Texas and this Hybrid Striper Fishery if often overlooked.  Hybrid Striper will chase threadfin shad very shallow and into the buck-brush!  If you want to catch these stripers in the brush, you better have a weedless rig!  It is common on Cooper to Striper Fish the windblown shorelines and concentrate on the brush stick-ups.  We call this buck-brush in Texas!  Hybrid Striper on Cooper Lake will push shad into the buck-brush and feed all day!  If you choose a regular jig head and sassy shad to catch these Hybrid Striper, you are going to lose a lot of tackle and make Bass Pro Shop happy!  Here are our favorite Cooper Lake Hybrid Striper Weedless Swimbaits!

Swimbait Hooks-Striped Bass Fishing-Flooded Timber

You now know how to fish weedless in shallow water, now how do we get this done in 30 to 50 feet of water in the trees? It is a lot easier than you think! You will need the following items;

1) 4/0 Swimbait Hook
2) 3/4oz and 1oz Bullet Worm Weights
3) Slim Profile Paddle Tail Swimbaits-5″
4) Bass Pro Sinker Stops

You will now need to rig your 5″ Paddle Tail Swimbait weedless on the swimbait hook. Please do not use a Sassy Shad. The big belly on this type of swimbait will NOT rig weedless. Slide a sinker stop on your fishing line, then the bullet sinker. Please note sinker stop sizes, Black for 2-8 lb. line, Red for 8-14 lb., Yellow for 14-20 lb. Tie your hook to the line, then slide the weight and stop until a tight fit!

How to Striper Fish Deep Water Flooded Timber

You have your swimbait rigged weedless and a 1oz bullet weight, now how do you fish this Striper Lure?  Pretend you have your boat on top of a telephone pole and drop this rig straight down!  Keep your Striper Fishing Lure close to the telephone pole and fish it straight up and down!  Pause your reel retrieve and change up your speed until you are catching Striper!  Striped Bass will hug the trees so vertically swim your paddle tail up and down the timber!  Make sure you have a heavy rod and proper line!  20-pound momo is recommended!  Yes, you will lose fish, but the ones you get to the net will be very nice!  Follow Striper Fishing Lures for more information!  See you on the water, cheers!
