Top 5 Lake Texoma Striper Fishing Lures

Number One: The Slab Spoon Lure

This lure has been around a very long time and is the go-to lure for most Lake Texoma Fishing Guides and Anglers year-round.  The most common weight is 1.5oz and the favorite color is Chartreuse.  You can find all shapes, sizes, and colors, but the Prune-Picker style dominates Lake Texoma Striper Fishing.  Follow How to Fish Slab Spoons for more information.

Number Two: Four Inch Sassy Shad

Paddle Tail Swimbaits catch big Lake Texoma Striper.  The four-inch Sassy Shad is king on Lake Texoma.  All you need are a few popular colors and a mix of jig head weights.  We like to carry 1oz, 3/4oz, and 1/2oz.  The most popular colors on Lake Texoma are Glow White, Chartreuse Glitter, and Silk Chartreuse.  We also like White Ice and Threadfin Shad.

Four Inch Sassy Shad

white ice 4″ sassy shad

You should also have some five-inch Sassy Shad in the tackle box too.  If Striper are keyed on smaller threadfin shad it does not hurt to carry a smaller profile paddle tail swimbait in a 3.5″ size.

3.5-Inch Paddle Tail Swimbait

chartreuse 3.5-inch paddle tail swimbait for Lake Texoma Striper

Number Three: Alabama Rig

The A-Rig craze is very strong with Lake Texoma Striper Anglers.  We use 2 arm, 3 arm, and 5 arm A-Rigs to catch very nice Striper all year long.  We slow roll them in the winter and throw a 2 arm A-Rig on the rocks in the Spring.  5 arm A-Rigs with blades are great over structure all summer long and when Striper start schooling baitfish, hang on for double and triple hookups.  If you have not used an A-Rig for Lake Texoma Striper, you are missing a great opportunity to catch more fish.

Number Four: Bucktail Jigs

The perfect Lake Texoma Striper Fishing Lure to throw at the rocks in the Spring.  The Blakemore Roadrunner Bucktail Pro Fishing Jig is a go-to lure on Lake Texoma for many years.  Try a ribbon worm trailer to add more action.

Number Five: Topwater Plugs

Lake Texoma’s Topwater Plug season starts in May and peaks in September.  From 7″ pencil poppers to a 3″ chug-bug will catch Lake Texoma Striper all summer long.  Take a look at the Lake Texoma Fishing Guides post by Chris Carey for more topwater plug information.

Lake Texoma Topwater Striper Plug

Honorable Mention Lake Texoma Striper Lures

The underspin jighead is a great Striper Lure on Lake Texoma and often over-looked.  Add your favorite paddle tail swimbait and catch more Striper due to the flash of the blade.  The tail-spinner is often thought of as a White Bass lure and this is true, but try a 3/4oz model and see how Lake Texoma Striper like the lure.  I made a lot of these heavy tail spinners because only one other guy in the USA was making them.  The 3/4 and 1oz models crush Lake Texoma Striper.  I always laughed when anglers came to the shop and said “man that XYZ lure is $ 7.00? That’s expensive”.  I would say “hey man you pulled up in a $ 60,000 truck and a $ 60,000 boat with $ 10,000 of electronics, rods, reels, and more!  $ 7.00 for a lure that catches big Striper is cheap.”  Good luck out there, see you on the water!
